You will learn how to:

  • State and apply the 2 fundamental electrical engineering formulas (P=U×I, U=R×I).
  • Calculate and select the appropriate power strip for the connected equipment.
  • Identify the voltage thresholds considered dangerous in low-voltage installations.
  • Distinguish between the operation of an NO contact and an NC contact.
  • Use a multimeter to measure the continuity of a contact.
  • Explain the operation and wiring of a push button and an indicator light.
  • Recognise and draw standard electrical engineering symbols.
  • Understand the physical principles of the magnetic field generated by a coil.
  • Identify the component parts of a contactor and analyse the mechanical movement of its contacts.
  • Explain and wire a self-holding circuit.
  • Identify, analyse and wire on-delay and off-delay timers.
  • Explain alternating-current power supplies using transformers and direct-current power supplies using regulated power supplies.
  • Read and interpret a simple electrical diagram.
  • Explain the principles of three-phase power used to supply an electric motor.
  • Analyse the detailed operation of a power contactor.
  • Differentiate between an auxiliary contactor and a power contactor.
  • Differentiate between control voltage and power voltage.
  • Compare a control circuit diagram with a power circuit diagram.
  • Demonstrate why a contactor appears in both the control circuit and the power circuit.
  • Calculate and determine the cross-sectional area of electrical conductors.
  • Identify and apply the standard colour coding for electrical conductors.
  • Classify and select cables according to their characteristics.
  • Correctly fit ferrules to electrical conductors.
  • Correctly tighten conductors and secure devices to a mounting plate.
  • Understand and analyse protective devices: fuses, circuit breakers, thermal relays, magnetic protection devices and thermal-magnetic protection devices.

  • Carry out star and delta connections and implement them in practice.
  • Perform an insulation resistance test on asynchronous motors using an insulation resistance tester.
  • Analyse a star-delta starting circuit diagram.
  • Understand machine safety levels and wire a safety module such as Préventa.
  • Create a complete electrical diagram using QElectroTech software.
  • Design a standardised drawing sheet including a title block, terminal blocks, bill of materials and wire numbering.
  • Create power, control and safety circuit diagrams.
  • Produce a component layout drawing.
  • Analyse the operation of a variable speed drive connected to a motor.
  • Create the corresponding control and power circuit diagrams.
  • Check electrical continuity using a multimeter and interpret measurements taken on coils.
  • Systematically check the wiring before commissioning.
  • Use a multimeter to carry out fundamental electrical measurements.
  • Carry out the progressive commissioning of a training panel.
  • Differentiate between electrical continuity and potential difference.
  • Carry out fault-finding with the power switched off, in accordance with BR electrical authorisation.
  • Diagnose live electrical faults by measuring potential differences.
